A Mid-Summer's Tale

Spring is but a distant memory and all the hard work and long hours of the season are paying off in beautiful big kid feathers and fur.
Spring is but a distant memory and all the hard work and long hours of the season are paying off in beautiful big kid feathers and fur. Ironically, today also marks the last hatch for our 2013 spring season - Welsh Harlequin and Pencilled Indian Runner Ducklings. How fun!

There is something rewarding about watching things grow. Pumpkins and Sunflowers spring to mind as very rewarding "end products" as do tomatoes, and the Pink Brandywine heirlooms are just beginning to ripen. Uh, wait a minute...this isn't right. Where was I? Oh yea, today's mid-summer's tale is about big kid feathers and fur and catching them in just the right light before sunset.  Enjoy the pics --

Kelley Creek Farms is a small (micro really) hobby farm located in Central Alabama 30 minutes south of Birmingham. We raise heritage and rare waterfowl and poultry along with a myriad of other creatures that give the farm its life. In addition to the birds, we raise heirloom tomatoes and vegetables.

Each day is different and brings a new set of adventures. Some make you laugh and some make you cry. Some are just plain frustrating. But we persevere knowing that tomorrow's set of problems will be completely different than today. Still figuring all this out ....one day at a time and striving for a more sustainable way of life.
