Paper Pots & The Art of Doing Stuff

4/3/2013

I dont' subscribe to much. But I *LOVE*! one blog in particular.
Karen @ The Art of Doing Stuff makes me laugh pretty much every day. Yesterday she had a post that may still apply to you Northern viewers. It's a little late to be starting anything indoors here in the South, and our last frost date is typically around the first day of April.

DISCLAIMER: Actual last frost date is April 19th for zone 7b. However, 90% chance that any frost on the tomatillos is gone till fall.

Thank you Dave's Garden for the wonderful information allowing a person to enter their zip code to receive info specific for your area.

I spent a small fortune on peat pots, peat pellets and plastic cups with a hole poked in bottom for drainage. Check out a cheaper way to make containers to start your veggies indoors, and tell Karen I said hello.

Kim, Karen's blog is where I met up with yours! And this post is a good one. Thanks! A good way to use up that newspaper we all have lying about.

Kelley Creek Farms is a small (micro really) hobby farm located in Central Alabama 30 minutes south of Birmingham. We raise heritage and rare waterfowl and poultry along with a myriad of other creatures that give the farm its life. In addition to the birds, we raise heirloom tomatoes and vegetables.

Each day is different and brings a new set of adventures. Some make you laugh and some make you cry. Some are just plain frustrating. But we persevere knowing that tomorrow's set of problems will be completely different than today. Still figuring all this out ....one day at a time and striving for a more sustainable way of life.
